Share the Adventure
During the 1940s, when I was a small child, I would sit on the front steps at my grandma's house and watch the cars drive by. The country was at war and gas was scarce, so there wasn't much traffic back then in that small country town. But when someone special turned into the gate, I would jump up and down with excitement. And, when it turned out to be Aunt Ethel and Uncle Isaac, I turned cartwheels because I knew that in the trunk of their Studebaker there were gifts. Gifts for me. Gifts for Ginger, my little sister, and gifts for mama, grandma, and grandpa. Daddy was fighting in the war so their gifts for him were their prayers for his safe return.
We buy gifts and memorabilia for lots of reasons.
Some of us buy a gift because it's there.
Some of us buy a gift to help us remember.
But facts are facts.
The gifts that are the most fun are those we buy
so that we can share the adventure with others. |
